Railway: Rolling Stock
Front Cab with Integrated Emergency Exit Door
Development and manufacture of a front cab with an integrated emergency exit door, an exchangeable frame system for the windshield, plus aprons. The concept, design, prototyping, and testing of the front door — including pivot point, locking mechanism, and seal — were carried out by Faserplast.
Highlights
The integrated door in a front inclined at 30 degrees must be openable with very limited force in an emergency. The kinematics for the door were developed entirely from scratch. The concept was adopted from aviation and successfully introduced into the rail vehicle industry.
